This index tracks how often U.S. public companies file with the SEC. Across
216 companies it analyses 250,350 filings, of which 111,760 are insider ownership forms
(Form 3/4/5) — about 45% of everything filed. Because each company's filing window has a different
length, companies are compared by filings per year.
EDGAR publishes filings one company at a time. This index adds the layer EDGAR does not provide: a
cross-company, form-by-form comparison of filing activity, with the counting method and every window's date range
stated openly, so any figure can be checked against the source in one step.
